First Credit Card

First Credit Card First Credit CardYou are finally in the real world and you probably want to buy a car or a house of your own. You might think it would be easy, considering that it has no bad credit, but does not have good credit, good. You have no credit history at all – period. You might think it will not work against you, but it will.

Future creditors to see some kind of record that reflects their ability to repay a loan. Not that many are reluctant to give a loan for a car or a house. So what is the best way to begin to establish your credit ? Will have to start by getting a credit card and do some shopping that must demonstrate that it can pay a loan in a timely manner.

When deciding which credit card to start, you should sit down and evaluate some things about you. For example, are you someone who procrastinates  ? Do you have income that will allow you to pay the bills ? Why do you want a credit card in the first place ?

It is very important to be honest with you when you answer these questions because it is easy to get into a hole that can not be traced from. Even if you feel you are the most careless person , but still you need card to get a card from American Express. The Amex card has to be paid each month, and you may be willing to spend less if you’re not going to be a balance that can carry more.

Trying to find a credit card so you can be a confusing process. You have to take into account the APR, annual fees and a multitude of hidden charges. The best place to start is the APR and compare those. Many people overlook the fine print because at first glance seem a nuisance to wade through. Try to read anyway. You will find the information you need to save money over the long term. Credit companies do not want to hear “I do not know” when they can not draw the fine print and tell you who was there when you signed your name on the agreement.

When using the first credit card there are some rules you must follow. You should always shred your receipts, and any fragment of credit card offers you are considering. Never give your credit card number over the phone unless the one who initiated the phone call to the company you’re ordering things, or trying to get a bill paid.

Keeping the customer service numbers of all your credit cards in a safe place. Sometimes companies will send you a new card and lost in the mail, an automated system will ask for your information before allowing it to continue, however, if you do not have a customer service number, you must wait until its next bill comes in. You would think that calling the store for help, but incompetence is rampant in all parts of the world.

You may be able to put off getting a credit card for a little while, but ultimately not be avoided. All we can do is know your limits and not spend beyond. With a credit card is easy to say that you buy now and worry about the bill later, but you have to make sure you have money to pay bills when they come into play

Yup, I agree. May I add a couple points of my own?

Something to think about, but if you go the “no credit card ever/cash only” way, you will have a much harder time trying to come up with a good deal on a house/car/whatever. That is because your credit (and credit score) are directly linked to what you purchase in this world. Its similar to wandering around naked in a desert and someone shouting to you, “Put some clothes on you freak!”.

I started out with my first credit card around the age of 13. No, it wasn’t to buy a bunch of stuff, but because I wanted to establish my credit at a young age and start building my credit, so that when the time comes to purchase a house/car, I could show them I have established good credit beyond a doubt. I actually never used that card until roughly 2-3 years later.

Ok, I’ll get off my soapbox now and let someone else take the stage… ;)
